Hi, I’m Melly, the creative force behind Melly Magpie Pottery. My journey with art began as soon as I could hold a brush, and my passion for painting, creating, and exploring the magical interplay of form and texture has only deepened over the years.

I believe in the animacy of the world around us—that inanimate objects are not truly inanimate, but alive in their own quiet, powerful way. Pottery, for me, is a dance with this animacy. It’s a collaboration with the clay grandmother, a co-creation where I am simply a tool she uses to reveal a being that’s already there, waiting to take form.

The water in me connects to the water in the clay. Together, we awaken deep parts of the self, weaving stories, emotions, and beauty into pieces that are as functional as they are magical. Every mug, bowl, or sculpture I create carries a piece of this journey—a whisper of connection, a celebration of life’s quiet wonders.
